“Close the blinds, turn off the lights, and huddle around the whiteboard everyone.”
It’s amazing the lengths some teachers have to go to, to be able to see their projector’s image.
When the bulb ages on a projector the image obviously dulls, but also over time the projector’s optics themselves will collect dust and affect the image quality, at which stage the only way to really improve the projected image is to pay for a new bulb or optical clean, or both, for around £300.
Alternatively depending on its age (general rule is over three years) we would recommend you think about replacing the projector, as new models start from as little as £490 fully installed and come with complete warranties that now include the bulb from most manufacturers. Meaning you’ll have a new bright image and never have to worry about the massive cost of bulbs again.
When it is time to replace your projectors there are several options available to you depending on your requirements:
• If you have a ceiling mounted projector fully installed replacements start from £490 with a three year lamp and parts warranty.
• If you have a wall mounted projector, or are interested in the benefits of having a short-throw model (reduced shadows, and no glare from the projector when standing at the board), then short throw models start from £999 fully installed.
• Alternatively, have you thought about upgrading your system to a height adjustable solution? Currently there are options available for you to buy the frame and projector to use with your existing board for approximately £1,250 giving you a fully height adjustable solution with a new projector with 3 year bulb and parts warranty.
